Company Background Gresvig AS, a holding company within the retail sector in Norway, is active in 2 sectors: sport and textile. With a total retail turnover of approximately €5.5 billion, they are engaged in the operation of a chain of sports retail outlets, comprising of approximately 220 stores, and an international chain, operating some 110 outlets throughout Norway. They also offer advisory, book-keeping and consultancy services for their franchises.
Business Situation A client, with many touch points, Gresvig's overall objective was to streamline their business, increasing eCommerce traffic and direct online sales. All of which, would allow them to achieve their goal in becoming a true multi-channel organisation within 5 years.
Solution Working in close collaboration with the client, Avanade built a state-of-the-art eCommerce site using Avanade Connected Methods for .NET 2.1, Commerce Server 2007 and BizTalk.
The back-end systems is divided into 2 parts:
- ERP – contains all products available within Gresvig's corporation. ERP is about to be replaced with a brand new one during Q2 2009. eCommerce solution will have to be adjusted on the BizTalk connector layer towards the new ERP. The impact is very low since BizTalk is a very versatile platform that will be able to “re-connect” with fewer issues
- WMS – handles warehouse management only. Orders, warehouse status, etc. eCommerce has no connections to WMS
A well organised communication channel allowed the effective engagement of the services of the Avanade Commerce Server team in Denmark, the Avanade Project Management and the Integration team located in Norway the team utilised the MS Team Foundation Server for work tracking and progress.
