Good article Florin. When most people think of social collaboration (within an IT or business context at least), they tend to think of asynchronous collaboration tools like Yammer!, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Whilst there is no denying these types of tools are important, ubiquitous and pervasive, I really think that social collaboration needs to consider real : Dee Chury commented on The Three Frontiers of Social Collaboration

Very much agreed KP, I have witnessed organizations which have taken customers for a ride but focussing on their short term gains.This has resulted in loss of market share to competitor, new entrants into the industry who have been attracted by a vacuum created by organizations failing to embrace customer centricism.Competitors have gained substantial market : Chakanetsa commented on Is Your Organization Customer-Centric or Customer-Focused?
As you point out, buildings have had automatic doors for years. The idea on the elevators was to generate some different thinking, plus possibly linking to facial recognition that Kinect has for say an apartment or condo.
