Prior to engaging with Avanade and Microsoft, Bailey House was using aging Novell technology with limited functionality. They desired a uniform platform that could support new systems and legacy applications. Employees needed internal collaboration and file-sharing services as well as improved external communication capabilities. Bailey House’s IT staff wanted central file storage, improved data protection, and simplified process for deploying new software and system updates throughout the organization.
Solution
As Grand Prize Winner of Avanade/Microsoft’s “Xtreme Techover” Contest, Bailey House was awarded the Microsoft technology and Avanade consulting services it needed to solve its IT problems. Avanade delivered the solution using the following technology:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Migration from Novell to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 gives Bailey House all the functionality of a mission-critical Windows Server operating system, including security, reliability, availability, and scalability. It provides the organization’s users with enhanced visibility of important data and gives its IT professionals a common platform for design, deployment, administration, and operations.
Active Directory
Active Directory allows Bailey House to store its information and settings in a central, organized, accessible location. It also enhances security and enables IT administrators to assign policies, deploy software, and apply critical updates to an entire organization.
Network Appliance (NetApp)
NetApp provided Bailey House with simplified data management capabilities, flexible and scalable storage infrastructure, comprehensive data protection, and reliable data access.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Services (MOSS 2007)
Windows SharePoint Services enable Bailey House users to create and access Web-based collaborative workspaces for managing documents, discussions, lists, surveys, and other important contextual information.
