Business Situation
The San Diego DPC had a variety of older and heterogonous infrastructure technologies in production, including: GroupWise and Exchange 5.5 for email services and NetWare IIDS and Windows NT for directory, file and print services. The aging infrastructure platform of the City needed to be upgraded to Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2007. This upgrade would ultimately affect approximately 12,000 users and mailboxes. The goal of the project was to provide a more consolidated IT infrastructure that is simpler to manage and provides an increased level of service, collaboration, and security for its users.
