Business Situation

To overcome the difficulty of on-screen reading using the Microsoft Reader technology. Just as in a paper book, it will be possible to underline, make notes, highlight paragraphs and, like a computer, check the dictionary, look up words or store multiple volumes. Through an agreement with Microsoft, Planeta will create and develop various contents in the eBook format and, in an initial phase, will distribute a CD containing the first electronically published titles along with the Spanish version of Microsoft Reader.

Solution

The solution is based on the Microsoft DNA 2000 platform and using for the distribution of electronic books the DAS architecture (Digital Asset Server). The solution was designed in several phases using a team five solution developers, two systems engineers, and one program manager.
