Business Situation

Digital music will constitute $3.2 billion – 15 percent of the total $21.2 billion music market – by 2005. Systems that prepare and provide secure content and ensure appropriate royalty treatment are critical to the future of digital content commerce.

 

Solution

Avanade worked with the customer to build two application systems to support this company’s digital music distribution strategy:

Digital Release Management System: a web-based workbench that manages the content – music, lyrics, photos, video clips – and metadata belonging to each of the company’s labels from the point of creation through to marketing and distribution.

Digital Asset Management System: a system for managing assets in consistent digital formats and supporting distribution in multiple formats.

Key products used are from Microsoft’s Enterprise Server platform including Windows 2000, SQL 2000, BizTalk Server, and Windows Media technologies.

 

Results

The company anticipates accelerated delivery of assets through new and existing delivery channels, increased cost effectiveness, and better market penetration.
