Business Situation
To implement a powerful content management system to support five new vertical web sites being launched. In addition, to improve the user's experience, enhance operational capability, provide a robust, scalable infrastructure, and facilitate the rapid launch of the new sites.

Solution
Avanade and Accenture are providing an end-to-end solution that includes designing, building, launching, hosting, and maintaining the five web sites. Avanade is building a technical architecture that upgrades the existing infrastructure, based on a SUN platform, to enable integration with the five new vertical sites operating on Microsoft technologies. Microsoft Windows 2000, Commerce Server 2000, and Interwoven, a content management solution, are the key technologies being implemented. The first site went live in November 2000.

Results
A flexible yet robust environment enables its editorial professionals to quickly add and edit content to multiple web sites without reliance on the IT Staff. Scalability and easy maintenance at reduced cost are anticipated for reliable content management. The hardware is performing at optimum levels with up to 10,000 concurrent users. This site is the fifth or sixth largest site on the Web. It is easily navigable and well respected.
