Business Situation
The project is a joint effort between the department of Social, Community and Family Affairs and the Department of Health and Children. The objective of which is to modernize the Civil Registration Service. The Civil Registration System will enable the secure online registration and production of certificates for "vital life events" such as births, deaths and marriages. The system will provide the capability to seamlessly share this information across Government Departments. It will provide an e-enabled, secure and convenient service to citizens and is a significant cornerstone in the overall eGovernment agenda in Ireland.
Solution
Key element of the overall bid (led by Accenture) was a proven Technical architecture. The Avanade Connected Architecture (ACA) was an integral part of the overall solution. From the customer’s perspective, the critical principles required to underpin the architecture were scalability, security, reliability and ‘future proofing’ (that it would be a platform for future developments). ACA met all these requirements.
Results
Although still in the build phase, use of ACA has already proved beneficial. Significant time and cost savings were achieved through rapid mobilization of the project. The technical infrastructure, design and development tools, and development environment were all available and ready to use from Day One. The result was that the project was mobilized in less than two weeks.
