Imprint PLC - Technology Infrastructure case study
Imprint PLC
Business Situation

To supply remote access for multiple service types (e.g. e-mail, file and print sharing, internet/intranet access, antivirus, remote support options, security, etc) to staff across the world with minimized capital outlay in the shortest lead time

  • Provide a secure transport method for internal information transfer
  • Design a transportable/scaleable/reproducible methodology that can be implemented in new offices with minimum capital cost and shortened time frames

Solution

Create a roadmap of the Windows 2000 Advanced Server and ISA to see what could be achieved. The project was divided into two phases:

  • Avanade set up the ISA server to provide remotely connected offices in Imprint's facilities at Shangai and Hong Kong. This provided the ability for Imprint to securely connect the data between the networked offices using VPN over the internet.
  • Avanade is setting up a complete VPN using ISA servers in Hong Kong and Shanghai. This will create localized service provision enabling a remote working field force to connect to the network through VPN (mobility in the workplace).

Results

  • A design that is transportable to any location across the world and which can be implemented within a very short time frame without any extra capital outlay. (The only capital cost incurred is the internet connection at the remote office, which is a usual and necessary cost).
  • Fast secure access
  • Immediate return on investment
