What has been your favorite project at Avanade?
This is a tough question to answer, because I’ve enjoyed many projects for lots of different reasons. It was my very first project, however, that made the deepest impression on me. After the Onboarding week and training where I got to know Avanade’s methods and core values, I felt well prepared and immediately was able to add value and support to the project. My experience was a mixture of "give" (perform the tasks expected from my role) and "take" (training on the job). It was a great win-win situation for the project as well as for the customer and me. I was directly integrated into the team and I did not feel like the “rookie” at all.

 

What is it like to work at Avanade?
At Avanade, I work on projects that are challenging and interesting at the same time.

 

How does your team support you?
I get all the guidance from my career manager and service line lead whenever requested.

 

What makes the “people” different here at Avanade than previous teams you may have been on?
The main difference I have perceived is that Avanade people are open minded, and we know that we will more likely succeed if we do things together rather than by ourselves.

 

Are you challenged with interesting/innovative work?
Yes, definitely. We’re all really passionate about technology, and our very close relationship with Microsoft gives us many opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies—in many cases even before they get to market.

 

How are the opportunities for career progression and advancement?
I think we have an advanced coaching and career model, which is very transparent with regard to the requirements for promotion eligibility. I can plan my training accordingly to develop my soft skills or to deepen my technical skills.

 

How do your outside interests contribute to the success you have today in your role at Avanade?
My favorite quotation is: “Minds are like parachutes, they only work when open.” So it makes sense that my personal passion is skydiving—13,500 feet of freedom and adrenaline. This helps me to relax (!) and recharge my batteries for the next working week.
