Business Situation
Applus RTD engaged Avanade to improve their financial reporting, impacting their 37 legal entities worldwide. They were transforming their company into a Business Line orientated organization. This gave them the need of a reporting structure and process that could give them insight into their consolidated group and business line financials as soon as possible.
Solution
A combination of Excel, Atlas XL and Dynamics AX was used to create an financial reporting process that gathered, validated, consolidated and reported according to their new organizational structure, regardless of whether the business unit was using AX as their financial system or not. After reaching a mature and stable reporting process part of the flexibility of this process was traded off for higher reporting speed by implementing SSAS and SSRS for the last stage of the reporting process.
Results
The new reporting process gives insight into the financials of the business line structure and allows for faster reporting at the end of each reporting period. This allows the company to put more emphasis on analysis of financial data via the data in SSAS cube.
