The integrated police, strucutred on two levels, are composed of 2 autonomous elements: the Federal Police and the Local Police, which are connected with each other and perform an integrated police function. The Federal Police carry out their mission on the whole Belgian territory and are made up for:
• The General Commissioner’s Office
• 3 general directorates
• Central directorates and services based in Brussels and decentralized directorates and services in the different districts.
H.Essers:
H.Essers is a premium logistics provider that offers customized and integrated transportation and logistics solutions across Europe. The company was founded in 1928 by Henri Essers and has since become one of the leading companies in Europe within major transport and logistics sectors such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and high-quality products. For the past 10 years the company has experienced a solid expansion, driven by organic growth and a number of strategic acquisitions. In 2010, H.Essers reported a turnover of € 310 million.

The main challenge of the logistic project for basic equipment for the Federal Police was the need for a fully integrated management platform that provides support for the supply chain management of uniforms.

The object-oriented ERP application was modified and extended by Avanade in accordance with the requirements of H.Essers and the Federal Police. The platform combines streamlining various business processes, such as procurement, stock management, distribution and invoicing, with a high level of user convenience.
As a result of the flexibility offered by Microsoft Dynamics AX, Avanade was able to develop and seamlessly integrate a number of new applications and functionalities for the Federal Police project. These included an order portal and a point-of-sale application.

The entire logistics chain of the Federal Police was streamlined: from storage and handling, cross docking, processing of returns, forecasting and stock management to transport and distribution at every department level. This enables a better service to be provided to the officers.
The new system also results in simple and transparent cost allocation.
Delivery deadlines are shortened.
Inventory costs are reduced.
And it is easier to keep track of the available budgets per officer.

We undertook to complete the entire project within the short turnaround time of 14 months — and we succeeded! The integrated logistics management platform that we developed with Avanade has already proven its ability to seamlessly manage similarly complex processes. For the Federal Police, we jointly succeeded in seamlessly integrating forty or so individual logistic flows and developing specific new functionalities tailored to the customer's requirements.
