The challenge that Etten-Leur faced was the optimisation of the use of existing applications. Although staff had a large number of tools at their disposal, they were often unable to make effective use of them while doing their work.

Solution
Etten-Leur came to Avanade to determine the proper infrastructure to select and to define the exact system requirements. Under the direction of Avanade consultants, a small group of municipal managers held a workshop to determine the exact requirements the new system design would have to fulfil. The workshop also proved a good test of collaboration between the two parties.

Results
The development of Etten-Leur‟s new ICT infrastructure provides the basis for a solid Microsoft platform. This should provide a uniform work environment in which staff can make optimal use of the available software to do their work.
