Business Situation
In 2002, Lochard recognized that it would soon need to create a next-generation product to meet its customers’ needs and remain competitive. Lochard had three objectives for its new software:
SolutionWorking closely with the Lochard team, Avanade designed and developed a new application, called the Aircraft Noise and Operations Management System (ANOMS).
ANOMS offers a fully 3-D interface the presents a map of an airport and its surroundings. The interface offers wire frame representation of designated flight paths and can use data captured from an airport’s control tower.
Lochard’s noise measuring devices re-create a flight so users can see whether or not an aircraft flew where it was supposed to go. This ability to re-create individual flights gives an airport the tools it needs to literally show its stakeholders where noise came from and who was to blame – an important consideration as it is often pilot error that creates excess noise.
The ANOMS application can also be used to produce complex reports; all of its data is available in real-time over the web or through a Smart Client.
ResultsANOMS was an instant success for Lochard, helping the company accelerate its business growth.
“We have been demonstrating ANOMS version 8.0 since early 2004 and we have had tremendous success,” said Lochard COO Russell Hulstrom. “This year alone we have been awarded contracts at airports in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boca Raton, Florida, Taiwan, and Birmingham in the UK. All of these wins are directly attributable to the tremendous impact that ANOMS 8 has had in the marketplace.”
