Business Situation
Provincie Gelderland, a Dutch public authority, had been using a Groupwise® email system, but it was extremely unstable and crashed intermittently, for no apparent reason. Provincie Gelderland had to replace the system and needed a supplier who would be able to complete the project within five months, as the license on the old email system was due to expire.
Solution
Working with the customer, Avanade created a solution which consisted of four Microsoft Exchange servers: two load balanced CAS/HTS servers and two MBX servers in SCC setup. This was scaled to support 3000 users.
Results
The Province has a system that integrates very well with the other office applications. In addition, the system is very stable and supports future growth. The Province staff use Blackberries and the interface of Exchange with these devices has proved excellent.
