Wachovia - Case Study
Wachovia
Business Situation

A decision by Wachovia's board saw the establishment of a new unit dedicated to increasing its share of business from institutional investors, without increasing risk. The Board expects the new team to produce $US75 million in new revenue by 2005.

With information about past trades scattered acrosss multiple applications, the new team lacked the data it needed to create offers to entice customers or analyse the risks involved. With the Board pushing the new unit and expecting a substantial payoff, new tools were needed quickly.

Solution
Avanade constructed a data warehouse to consolidate information from a wide range of trading applications. Next, the Avanade team built the tools that allow Wachovia to understand clients’ performance, tailor offers, and conduct risk analysis to ensure sound proposals.

Well within a six-month deadline, Avanade implemented Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft’s Data Transformation Services, and Analysis Services to provide the OLAP facilitates that will empower the new team to deliver on its mission.

Results
Anticipated results of this project include:

  • Decreased time and effort wasted on unprofitable customers
  • Exposure of business trends that were previously invisible
  • Increased success rates for sales people
  • Improved daily data flow creating a baseline the company can measure against in the future
