Business Situation
Western Digital Malaysia wanted to shift to a more reliable platform for its mission critical processes. Their requirements for the new system were that it should have high system performance, and minimal downtime or fail-over. The pilot application selected for MS platforming is their production data Management Reporting System.

Solution
Avanade design and implement the migration of the company’s data warehouse from Oracle to SQL2000. This will be a phased solution; Phase 1 covers a portion of the entire reporting database, which is accessed by digital dashboards and reports.

Results
SQL2000 meets the customers’ demands by providing high system performance and minimal fail-over. This platform provides greater ease of maintenance, and will reduce costs and operations. Decoupling the data warehouse from the mainstream database ensures less downtime and higher reliability, ensuring less continued access by the digital dashboards to real-time data.
