Moving applications to the public cloud
Businesses are increasingly looking to move and build new applications on public cloud platforms to improve agility and respond quicker to market demands. But this move to public cloud brings with it new complexities as applications become more composite - leveraging not only the higher level services like Storage, Database offered by the Cloud providers, but also use third party SaaS services for foundational capabilities like email and messaging. So understanding availability of an application requires not only inspecting the infrastructure the application depends on, but the services it consumes as well as the health of the platform. This composition of an application requires visibility into all the services to determine overall health and uptime.

Avanade believes that a public cloud platform should not equal less visibility. Avanade’s private cloud application management solutions make it is possible to gain deeper insight into the application, as well as implement enterprise policies like governance/auditing, environment management. These cloud based monitoring and management services can collect a multitude of events, analyze them and identify critical events that require additional remedial actions like adjusting capacity or provisioning new services. Additionally, tools and process used currently for managing other environments can continue to be used enabling efficient operations.
