SSAB wanted to utilize their Microsoft platform investment in the best way to improve internal collaboration, enterprise communication and information management. The main business drivers were to reduce travel cost, lower conference call charges, increase end-user productivity, availability and business continuity. SSAB was interested in what the concept of Next Generation Workplace (NGWP) could bring of value to their business .

Solution
Avanade delivered a NGWP Proof of Concept based on Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS), RoundTable, Office LiveMeeting and Groove; supporting existing Exchange and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) environments at SSAB.

In addition, Avanade assisted SSAB in clarifying their vision of NGWP and its related Microsoft products and possibilities by analyzing key data and quantifying these as a foundation for SSAB’s strategy within this area. This resulted in a business oriented solution approach.

With familiar tools and quick access to the right information and resources when they need it, employees can click to communicate from within everyday software applications and business processes in the context they want, without compromising security.
