By deploying new ERP software in less than six months, Avanade has put Cable & Wireless on the fast track to increased business effectiveness.  The rapid implementation was, in itself, a benefit, as it reduced disruption to the business.  But, as Avanade started with Microsoft Dynamics™ AX, then added their own components and add-on modules, the software was much more user-friendly, efficient and accurate than the package it replaced.

Energy

Using a virtualised server platform running Microsoft Windows Server® 2008, Hyper-V™ and System Center Virtual Machine Manager®, Avanade migrated Centrica’s specialised applications and demonstrated that it was possible to consolidate a number of SQL Server® databases. Hyper-V enables Centrica to consolidate its SQL Server databases more efficiently. This equates to an 88% saving in SQL server licensing costs. The new setup is more resource, size and power-efficient. If replicated across seven power stations, it would cut the number of servers by 75%.

Avanade helped EMI implement a new and improved web infrastructure that standardises application development, supports web services-based content delivery and cuts duplication of effort and costs.

Subsea 7 is already using VMware®, but  decided to look at Microsoft’s Hyper-V® technology as an alternative. Working closely with experts at Microsoft and Subsea 7’s IT staff, Avanade consultants identified 14 physical servers (out of a total of 24) that were candidates for virtualisation. Avanade built a representative Hyper-V environment and carried out migration testing.

Retail

Avanade helped Tesco’s plan for, design, and implement Microsoft Active Directory and other infrastructure components as part of a global effort to standardize systems and streamline IT operations.
