Tile-Based User Interface and Service-Oriented Architecture Further Improves Scalability, Extensibility and Performance
 
SEATTLE – May 23, 2013Avanade® , a global business technology solutions and managed services provider, announced today Cloud Services Manager (CSM) 2.0, which includes new enhancements to help companies more easily manage private cloud environments. With a new, modern user interface and service catalog capabilities, Avanade is enabling an enhanced user experience that provides business-oriented, self-service features that are easier to use. The solution was showcased at the Microsoft Management Summit, in early April. 
 
Building on top of Microsoft® System Center 2012, Avanade’s CSM 2.0 enables companies to deploy and manage cloud services across multiple private cloud vendor environments including Microsoft, VMware® and Citrix®. It addresses the needs of the business by providing a single portal to request, design, organize and manage IT services across private clouds.
 
Avanade’s CSM 2.0 is the Microsoft orientated extension of the Accenture Cloud Platform (ACP) for those clients who are looking for an on-premise cloud solution.
 
With a single web-based portal, CSM 2.0 helps reduce the cost and complexity of deploying and managing business services on multiple private and hybrid cloud environments. It can also extend support to other cloud services including Microsoft Windows Azure™ and brings together multiple self-service activities, such as provisioning or changing new services and monitoring costs in a simple and intuitive way.
 
At the center of the update is a full service catalog supporting deployment of complex workloads such as Team Foundation Server and SharePoint® Server activities to generic items that can be tailored for customer needs. The modern web-based interface not only makes self-service easier from traditional PCs and laptops, but more accessible from mobile devices. The new service-oriented architecture also further improves scalability, extensibility and performance.
 
Rich Stern, corporate vice president, global technology infrastructure at Avanade, said, “Private cloud services enable enterprises to take advantage of the benefits of cloud computing while still allowing IT managers governance and control. However, many cloud management tools are not designed with the business in mind – making them too complex or technical for non-IT managers to use and understand. CSM 2.0 empowers business units with an intuitive user interface and simplified self-service. For example, an IT manager can now deliver a hosted private cloud experience that enables a web developer in the marketing department better access and control to set up and manage their own service environments.”
 
Customers who have rolled out earlier versions of CSM are seeing the benefits of a highly-automated, self-service cloud management portal. One large enterprise uses CSM to design, deploy and validate customer development projects spanning four global data centers, comprised of over 1,200 heterogeneous virtual machines. Leveraging the self-service, business oriented features provided by CSM they have been able to reduce the average time to deploy new environments for projects from weeks to under an hour.
