AIS’ goal is to be the market leader by delivering to their customers the overall lowest cost of ownership. In addition, there needs to be an ongoing effort to rationalize the internal processes and operations. One of the initiatives is to implement a content management system to store and manage content pages for the AIS’ live websites as well as provide 24x7 accessibility to users to create, update and manipulate content. Users will be empowered to create, control and publish content via a user approval workflow to the content managed websites for selected sections of the Internet (AIS900.com & GSMAdvance.com), Intranet (Departments HRM, Marketing, CRCD) and Kiosk websites. Contents published in the content management system are then staged (propagated) to AIS’ live websites at scheduled intervals for public view.
Avanade consultants developed a highly customized Content Management Solution (CMS) based on Content Management Server 2001 functionalities supplemented by SQL Server 2000 to support the unique requirements of AIS Plc. To expedite the process of transferring/staging web contents from the CMS system to AIS’ existing IPlanet web servers, Avanade consultants developed a content management solution and content staging process to update AIS live websites daily at scheduled intervals. The entire pilot project was completed in 6 weeks.
