Bangkok Bank

Business Situation

The bank’s existing web site was developed more than 3 years ago. It had remained fairly static in terms of structure and the bank faced challenges in keeping the content up to date. The bank wanted to build a new and revamped web site with a whole new look and feel to more effectively communicate its ever-expanding range of products and services. The content of this new site was to be frequently updated, highly accurate and published in a timely manner. Each line of business would be in control of the content for their part of the site.

Solution

The project was executed in two phases, with an initial six week pilot to implement the solution for one section of the Bank’s new site. A subsequent 2nd phase extended the solution to all the remaining sections of the bank’s new site and included the deployment of the production web site. Avanade added value by extending the workflows to meet business users’ needs, providing automated e-mail notifications and feedback for declined web pages, and implemented a scalable web infrastructure. The site is linked to the bank’s internet banking web site, is multilingual with web pages in Thai and English, and has in excess of 900 pages. Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 and SQL Server 2000 were chosen as the platform for the solution running under a Windows 2000 Advanced Server infrastructure.

Results

The solution will deliver the following benefits to the bank:

  • Further enhance the Bank’s leadership position.
  • Provide a platform for obtaining new customers and cross selling to existing customers.
  • Create another channel in the Bank’s mainstream media mix.
  • Deliver up to date information, customer-friendly information that will encourage new business.
