Having not changed its server and desktop standard operating environments for several years, Boral’s existing infrastructure had reached the end of its service lifecycle and was unable to support many of the digital devices and mobility solutions the business viewed as required business tools. Changes in hardware manufacture also meant that Boral had to support multiple operating environments and multiple servers– increasing support and maintenance costs across the company.

Solution

Avanade developed for Boral a new server and desktop standard operating environment to enable lower cost of management and operation and provide a more robust platform to deliver new organizational applications. The solution incorporated new Microsoft technologies:

• Windows Server 2003
• Exchange Server 2003
• Windows XP Professional
• Microsoft Office XP
