U. S. Department of the Interior
Avanade delivered new revenue tracking system to speed up audits, increase accuracy and generate millions in royalties by promoting better compliance

Business Situation

The U.S. Department of Interior needed to transform the way it collects and distributes more than $7 billion annually that is paid by companies that drill or mine on federal properties. It needed help to implement a new client-server application that would be integrated with its existing accounting system. The Department also needed expertise in designing and supporting a Windows-based infrastructure to support the new application.

Solution

Accenture helped to plan, design, develop, and implement the new revenue tracking system to speed up audits, allow more accurate tracking of royalty payment, and generate millions in additional royalties by promoting better compliance. Avanade was asked by Accenture to provide Microsoft-based technical services to ensure the project was successful.

After a successful deployment of the initial client-server application, Avanade added staff to continue working with Accenture and the DOI on projects to improve performance, scalability and reliability of the current applications and infrastructure. These additional projects include rebuilding legacy applications using Microsoft .NET and Avanade’s ACA.NET architecture, consolidating ASP applications, and upgrading existing NT infrastructure to Windows Server 2000 and 2003.

Results

  • Improved operations
