​Borger.dk is a gateway for Danish citizens to the entire Danish public sector. Originally built using Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007, it is managed for the government by a third party.

Now, however, the Danish government would like to upgrade it to use the latest Microsoft SharePoint 2010 technology and streamline its operations to improve service and cut costs.

​Avanade was engaged as a trusted advisor to review the whole site and make a plan for migrating it to Microsoft SharePoint 2010.

This activity included detailed documentation of the site as it is now, a function-by-function plan for migration and infrastructure recommendations.

​In the short term, the Danish government got an independent, credible review of their site, in order to plan for the migration properly and put out detailed requests for proposals for the main project.

In the longer term, Avanade has helped Borger.dk lay the foundations of a better portal – more standardised, up-to-date, simpler, easier to maintain and more functional.
