Today the customer’s Sales and Marketing team produces 14 Scorecard reports called the “Executive Dispatch” that measure sales, pricing and revenue metrics via KPIs. The reports are run manually and are delivered to the executive management team, as well as the Board of Directors as PDF documents via email. Although the customer has taken the first step in measuring business metrics, they recognize the need to build out the long-term business intelligence framework that will allow for more scalability, reliability and flexibility in their reporting capabilities.

Solution
Using the Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for BI, as well as SQL Server, SharePoint Portal, Analysis Services and Microsoft Office, Avanade developed a Scorecard and KPI Solution that helps our customer achieve their business scorecard goals. The solution provides a multi-dimensional view into the SQL data mart in which the data from various operational systems is stored. The solution extracts the required scorecard and KPI data and presents the information in report format via a portal. The solution also provides the ability to take static screenshots of the scorecards for delivery via email to Board of Directors members. In phase one, four scorecards will be delivered, with information being refreshed weekly out of the operational systems.

In phase two the remaining scorecards will be delivered. The solution will be transitioned to the customer’s IT staff and Avanade will provide the training to support and maintain the solution going forward. In addition to Sales and Marketing, the customer also has other departments interested in deploying a scorecard solution in the near future.
