TDC’s employee portal – an intranet used for information sharing and company-to-employee communication – had been developed by another vendor. Because it was slow, buggy and lacking in features, end users and the company communications department were dissatisfied with it. As a result, TDC decided to find a new partner to improve and maintain it.

Avanade began the project by fixing the problems that were causing poor performance – speeding up performance and fixing bugs. This was done with by a rewrite of the code to ensure a ‘catch all’ of the bugs left from the initial development of the portal.With an Avanade consultant on site one day a week supported by a small team in our offshore delivery unit in India, we can maintain a close relationship with the communications department at TDC and a ready and responsive service capacity. This helps us prioritise change requests and keep the project within a fixed-price annual budget using a mix of on- and off-shore resources.

For TDC, employee satisfaction is a top priority. Therefore, an easy-to-use, efficient and fully-functional portal is an essential requirement, as it helps the company communicate with its employees. The communications and HR department are very happy with the results thus far.
