Business Situation
Zeta Digital runs a number of websites, some of which are the online versions of the Group's high-profile publications. These had evolved independently over time with different groups being responsible for development and deployment. This had resulted in a very distributed environment with 10 hosted websites in various locations running on different platforms. In addition, each web site had it own content editor that needed to publish information and access each site via an internet connection. Running costs were high and there were availability issues which Zeta needed to address. They needed to put in place a solution to improve their web platform and make operations such as monitoring and stabilization easier to do.

Solution
Avanade is working with Zeta Digital to move all the sites to a new hosted center in Barcelona running Windows 2000, IIS 5.0 and SQL Server 2000. Avanade constructed a unified platform that gives the customer a centralized operating environment with automated monitoring and control.

The work included: 

• Designing a new unified platform with completely new hardware to support all the web sites and requirements
• Reviewing all code and stress testing critical components to detect bottlenecks
• Making modifications to the web sites to enable them to run with high availability
• Migrating the Site Server user register and integrating it into Active Directory
