Building Australia’s leading marketplace for higher education while supercharging OUA’s commercial capabilities

Open Universities Australia (OUA) has a bold vision for the future of education. Its mission is to be the go-to destination for anyone wanting to study higher education online in Australia. However, OUA recognised that its digital presence did not reflect its brand promise. As a result, a new website—one that would serve its students more effectively now, and (ultimately) drive fulfilment of its brand vision—was critical. Avanade and Sitecore were uniquely able to help OUA solve its pressing challenges and create a platform to meet longer-term goals. Avanade designed and developed a new Sitecore platform that streamlined application and course management processes and gave OUA an all-important 360-degree view of its student base.

Accelerating Volvo Cars commercial and customer experience performance

Volvo Cars business model is steered by a digital-first mindset, and it was this approach that spurred the luxury car manufacturer to embark on an ambitious transformation project. Volvo Cars sought to redefine the way people experienced its brand online, and in doing so drive commercial performance. The digital transformation project delivered by Avanade addressed a wide range of challenges, and the results so far have been profound. Volvo Cars has met its objective of becoming the leading digital innovator in the automotive industry, and has achieved an array of headline results, including a global sales increase by 7% compared to 2016 (powered by the new digital platform) and a 48% growth in the number of customers using its online car configurator.

Speeding up our brand evolution and propelling our mission to be the leading digital innovator

And yet our own brand identity didn’t reflect our digital strengths and ability to help clients transform their businesses. We saw a refreshed brand identity as the single most effective way to reintroduce ourselves to the market and at its heart sat our website—a digital property with 25 country sites and nearly 10,000 pages. Using a robust design approach, Sitecore-led development principles and an agile program rollout methodology we were able to achieve the speed this project required, delivering a refreshed website on-time and to the exacting standards our clients would expect. The fast rollout has delivered business benefits including personalisation, conversion performance, efficiency and engagement. Three months after the launch of the first phase of the website, we saw a 72% improvement in click throughs for visitors we were targeting.

Helping a healthcare giant serve over 14-million user sessions a month

Merck Manuals is one of the most trusted textbooks and reference materials available to medical professionals around the world. In 2014, Merck Manuals switched to a digital-only strategy, with an ambitious goal to reach 3-billion people by 2020. However, its old CMS resulted in a publishing cycle that was too long, and there was a real risk that science would have changed by the time the update was eventually published. Merck Manuals also needed to create a more accessible experience for users from different continents, viewing in different languages, and on a variety of devices. The Sitecore solution, hosted on Microsoft Azure and implemented by Avanade, has already provided the flexibility, scalability, and cost-predictability that Merck was seeking. It has also helped to drastically improve the way Merck manages and publishes localised medical content.

Philippine Airlines reaches new heights with personalised, relevant digital content

The flag carrier of the Philippine Islands, Philippine Airlines (PAL) offers domestic and international flights with warm "Heart of the Filipino" service. As part of its branding strategy, PAL wanted to ensure relevant, meaningful digital experiences from booking to baggage claim.

PAL partnered with Accenture, Avanade and Sitecore to personalise marketing campaigns and customer-facing website content, create localised websites for Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China, and reduce time to market for new products and services.

Traffic to PAL's websites has grown significantly over the previous year, with sessions increasing 93% and users increasing 80%. Web conversions and sales have also grown dramatically, more than doubling in several digital channels. PAL was named one of the world's 10 most improved airlines in 2017 and 2018 and earned its 4 Star Airline rating in 2018.
