Loyens & Loeff is a multinational law and tax firm that provides full-service legal and tax support to clients doing business in or from our home markets. To improve business efficiency, modernise its workplace culture and provide more proactive client engagements, the firm started a digital transformation journey focused on delivering value-driven innovation.
Loyens & Loeff held its first-ever Innovation Challenge, asking its staff to form internal teams to identify and solve a challenge that affects client relationships or ways of working in the firm. A jury of external and internal innovation experts reviewed 42 entries submitted by 188 employees from across firm departments and locations.
The winning idea was a solution for client contract management based on Microsoft Power Platform. By pushing automated reminders and due date alerts, the app aims to avoid any risks associated with manually tracking filing deadlines and documenting contract performance. It’s also designed to give lawyers an effective and proactive communication tool to keep clients informed of the contract execution process.
To turn the concept into reality, Loyens & Loeff partnered with Avanade’s Digital Innovation Studio and a local team of dedicated Power Platform experts. Using a design-led, iterative approach, we co-developed a low-code, cloud-based application that takes over the tedious task of contract status monitoring and frees employees to focus on work that adds value to the firm. The application development progress is being shared with colleagues and clients incrementally to help ensure adoption of the new technology. The tool is now being piloted in the firm’s real estate practice with a planned rollout to other practice groups in the future.
