3 decided on Microsoft Office 365, after first evaluating Google Apps. Office 365 proved to be fully compliant with 3’s remaining complex it-environment and also appeared as the more Enterprise Ready solution. In addition, Microsoft Office, Exchange, Lync and Outlook was already familiar to the organisation and a smooth transition to the cloud was a high priority.

The project of migrating 3,200 users to Office 365 was done in three months, including all planning and preparation. The project was a true team effort. Avanade worked closely with the it-staff at 3 as well as their current outsourcing provider through the whole process. Avanade delivered project management, technical expertise and solution architecture in the project of moving 3 from Exchange 2007 and home folders to an Office 365 platform consisting of the latest versions of Exchange, Lync, SkyDrive Pro and Office Web Apps. As a result the employees at 3 can always access the latest collaboration tools, and their data is accessible from anywhere on any device.
