Mark Sayer will share lessons learned from the front lines of cyber incident response and red team engagements across Asia Pacific. Mark has personally led the recovery for some of the region’s largest cyber-attacks, helping the victims to understand how the attacks happened, evict the threat actors and most importantly, help the businesses recover their operations with minimal impact. Mark has also been involved in the delivery of numerous large-scale Red Team engagements with financial services organisations, including 3 Red Team engagements for Australia’s largest financial services firms under the CFR regulated CORIE framework.
Through his stories and real-world examples, Mark will cover the themes that are common to many successful cyber-attacks, the tools and techniques used by cyber attackers today and the things organisations should be focusing on in order to improve their resilience.

Mark is a respected IT security professional with over 25 years of experience across a diverse range of roles, organisations and industries. As an executive leader with a strong technical background, Mark helps translate the highly technical aspects of cyber security into insights that business leaders can use to make informed decisions.
As the AAPAC lead for Cyber Defense at Accenture, Mark has led the development of local technical cyber capabilities across ANZ, MET, ASEAN and Japan, bringing the best of Accenture's global capability to the AAPAC region. These Cyber Defense capabilities include offensive security, cyber threat intelligence, cyber incident response, as well as a diverse range of consulting services aimed at helping companies maximise the value they realise through their investments in technology and capability.
Recently, Mark and his team in Australia have led the incident response activities for some of the largest ransomware and nation state-based attacks on prominent Australian businesses. His team has also established cyber detection and response capabilities to protect millions of medical records and government operations abroad.
