In his role as Global Lead for Avanade’s Citizen Services business, Darren is responsible for growing and evolving Avanade’s business in the public sector. Darren is passionate about enabling governments and public services organisations to transform citizen services and cross-department collaboration with a 360° digital approach. Darren’s previous leadership roles at Avanade include Global Client Executive for Microsoft and European Cloud Services Lead. Throughout his 20+ years of consulting experience, Darren has specialised in helping clients optimise value from their investments in Microsoft cloud, digital, and AI technologies.

I have spent my entire career focusing on government issues at the local, state, and federal levels. I worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (22 years) in staff, management, and executive roles. In 2001, the President appointed me to an executive-level position at US EPA where I served as Assistant Administrator for over four years. For the last 15 years, I have focused on government solutions - working closely with Microsoft partners building cloud-based solutions for JPS, HHS, and Modern Government. I would welcome the opportunity to consider a new for-profit or non-profit board position where I can bring my combined public and private sector experience to help grow an organisation serving public sector customers or citizens.
Mark Lyons
Public Sector Industry Senior Managing Director Health and Public Service, Accenture
Mark currently leads Accenture’s European Public Service industry. In his role Mark is responsible for driving Public Sector transformation across Accenture’s clients and growing Accenture’s internal capability. He has spent over 30 years with Accenture. In his previous role he led the UK and Ireland’s Health and Public Service practice for 8 years and was also responsible for the development and execution of the European Public Service Strategy. As well as working in the UK he has worked with clients in Norway, Germany and South Africa.
Mark has represented Accenture on many external organisations’ Public Sector Boards, including the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and TechUK.
Throughout his career Mark has also worked on many client facing, large scale, transformations across a number of industries including Social Security, Revenue, Education and Borders. Much of the work that Mark does is at the convergence of business and technology, looking at how new and emerging technologies can be used by Public Sector organisations to improve outcomes for the Public Sector and their citizens.
Mark lives in Manchester in the UK. He is married with 3 children.
