Business Situation

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted that change is constant and leaders within organizations everywhere need to flexibly navigate our world of continual change to be successful. To enhance patient care, Seattle Children’s – a leading children’s hospital, research institute and foundation – has undergone a digital transformation to help better connect clinicians with patients and their families. While traditional hospital rounds are done in person, the new realities of remote working led to the development of a virtual rounding solution, co-created with Avanade, that’s integrated with Microsoft Teams and powered by Microsoft Azure. Now, clinicians working both remotely and onsite, as well as families who are unable to visit the hospital, can all participate in providing care for patients.

To effectively connect this technology with the people using it, Seattle Children’s partnered with Avanade to design a personalized, human-centered change management program, with experiences around patient care, care team collaboration and operational insights. By focusing on the unique needs of each user, the organization is creating a positive workplace experience that will empower clinicians do their jobs more effectively while helping patients get better.

“Patient safety is the foundation of everything we do at Seattle Children’s. A campaign like this and a platform like this really change that experience. Technology is able to empower the workforce and it’s also able to really humanize the experience for patients and families.”
