Avanade Nordic offices choose Doctors without Borders as holiday charity

This is a guest blog post written by Avanade alum, Emmelie Graf.
For the third year in a row, Avanade in the Nordics has selected a worthy charity in need of support during the holiday season. This year, we chose an organization, which has been imperial for the containment of the Ebola disease: Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) or better known as Doctors without Borders. This international humanitarian-aid organization has a long history of providing care and assisting people affected by crises, war and natural disasters, regardless of political affiliation, religion or ethnicity.
Since the beginning of the Ebola outbreak, MSF has sent more than 700 international staff to West Africa and admitted more than 5,600 patients, among whom around 3,500 were confirmed as having Ebola and more than 1,400 patients survived.
Seemingly, Avanade Nordics (consisting of four different countries: Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) wanted to choose a global charity that seemed more familiar to a global organization. The choice of charity was well received by co-workers especially with the recent Ebola outbreak and what MSF has done to contain it. Primarily, we sent a specially-created Christmas card to clients, partners and associates promoting the program and soliciting donations. Collectively we have sent over 2,000 Christmas cards cross the Nordics.
Our annual holiday fundraising program is our way of giving back to the community every year. The tradition will continue and we are proud to be helping those in need during the time of year when thinking of others is most relevant.
If you're interesting in supporting this worthy organization, there are several options. Please visit the Doctors without Borders' fundraising and corporate giving webpage to learn more.
