As the main supplier of natural gas in France, GRDF has 11 million customers, 11,500 employees and revenue of €3.6 billion. The company wanted to modernize its employee workplace and promote the use of digital technologies – and management wanted an internal communication system that included new communication and collaboration practices.

With the help of Avanade, GRDF implemented an intranet designed as a central tool for internal communication. To manage time constraints, among the innovative solutions chosen to help speed up the process were Microsoft Azure cloud and Microsoft Office 365 platform. The intranet brings new collaborative uses, which are quickly adopted, such as SharePoint, as well as a social and conversational aspect, thanks to Yammer.
One year after implementation, 10,500 users are now using the intranet each month. It has become the single access portal for all of the company's resources and a truly collaborative work platform. This project has made it possible to break away from an ageing tops-down method of communication, providing for a more engaging, efficient communication method. Users have easy-to-use tools that are helping to build a stronger sense of community.
