Business Situation

Avanade helps organizations do what matters. As a global leader across the Microsoft ecosystem, we work to continuously improve our employees’ productivity and job satisfaction through great experiences using Microsoft technology.

Our employees are charged with lots of demands, and with over 100 applications in use across the company, it’s challenging for them to keep on top of what’s relevant. It was important to find a way to funnel the right capabilities and information to them at the right time. Compounded with the onset of the pandemic, when our workforce became 100% remote, we quickly assessed our readiness to meet employees' needs in their new work environments. To support everyone’s well-being, we wanted to simplify tasks, provide an easy way to share knowledge and expertise, and make it possible for our team to shift more of their time adding value for our clients.

Solution

We turned to Microsoft Viva – a single comprehensive and consolidated employee experience (EX) platform that is accessed primarily through Microsoft Teams. Viva provides employees with the right apps and capabilities based on their needs at any point in time. The interactive Viva modules – which are also mobile-enabled – were rolled out to everyone with a Microsoft 365 license and include:

  • Viva Topics – an AI-driven knowledge solution that drives user curation around topics and pulls information from across our ecosystem so employees can learn more about a subject.
  • Viva Connections – a preference-based tool to access, connect into and receive pop-up notifications for information, company news, topics, documents and more.
  • Viva Insights – an app based on AI and machine learning that focuses on personal productivity and well-being. For example, employees can activate the focused time feature on their calendars and get reminders to praise others and take breaks.
  • Viva Learning – a centralized hub that employees can tap into to discover, share and engage with learning content from across the organization.

Results

With Microsoft Viva, employees have what they need at their fingertips, when they need it. This improves their use of Microsoft capabilities and supports their ability to work effectively from any location. Viva also offers the speed and efficiencies to:

  • Find experts, search for and contribute knowledge
  • Keep up with the latest news, with the option to personalize preferences
  • Schedule focused work, well-being breaks and meetings with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Maximize teamwork in hybrid workplace environments
