Dairy company improves employee productivity by 15% with new digital marketing strategy

Business Situation

As one of the largest dairy processors in the world, this company was successful at selling its products to customers in stores but struggled to engage with them digitally. The company has more than 50 sites across its divisions and countries, which it found difficult to manage – plus it was not able to provide a consistent brand experience. It wanted to overhaul and modernise its digital marketing strategy. By moving onto a single platform, the company’s marketing team can provide a consistent brand image across all of its sites and deliver a more personalised user experience across any device in order to build customer loyalty.


The company teamed up with Avanade to move to the Sitecore Experience platform, giving content authors more control of their marketing strategy as they can seamlessly plan, publish and share content using common page templates, components and modules. We also helped create a common and flexible framework for all brand and country sites, which now features the same “look-and-feel” design and is optimised for use with any device.

The new solution is fully hosted, monitored and managed in Microsoft Azure and includes a full suite of managed cloud environments. This more agile web environment works seamlessly with the company’s back-end content management system to deliver a differentiated customer experience with personalised and mobile features. The company also leveraged Avanade’s Sitecore shared services factory (DMMS) to improve time to market at a lower risk.


New capabilities allow the marketing team to target content across sites automatically. The time it takes to publish new content reduced from up to four days down to less than two hours. The company has improved productivity by increasing its focus on site enhancements and marketing strategies by 15 percent. Just months into the initial launch, the number of page visits to the new sites increased significantly.

As the digital transformation continues, the company is relying on site behavior data to help inform what additional features and content it should offer customers to ensure they always get the best experience.
