Fresenius is a global healthcare group offering high-quality products and services for dialysis, hospitals and outpatient treatment. Its costly, complex IT infrastructure with tens of thousands of unmanaged, offline applications was no longer supported. To enhance the employee experience and complement its broader migration to Microsoft 365, it wanted a user-friendly, collaborative platform. With the help of Avanade, it began sunsetting over 17,000 Lotus Notes applications on 170 servers and moving employees onto Microsoft SharePoint Online.“At the end of the day, we hope this whole Microsoft 365 solution – with its modern, cloud-based tools – will result in higher productivity for our Fresenius employees, so they can offer more products that are less expensive and better quality.”
Solution
To help ensure applicability and adoption, we consulted 326 IT managers in 161 Fresenius locations in 66 countries. Based on identified priorities, we then helped set up the processes and tools to delete 86% of unused, unmanaged applications before migrating employees to SharePoint Online.
