Role Responsibilities
- Lead SOC modernization and transformation opportunities from early pipeline qualification through contract closure and into implementation.
- Own end-to-end technical solutioning, including architecture design, scope definition, integration strategy, assumptions, dependencies, and cost estimation.
- Act as the primary technical authority during client engagements—facilitating workshops, solution evaluations, and executive discussions related to SIEM, XDR, SOAR, detection engineering, and SOC operating models.
- Translate client security and operational requirements into scalable, delivery-ready SOC solutions aligned to Avanade and Microsoft best practices.
- Produce high-quality client and internal deliverables, including:
- Architecture diagrams and reference models
- Implementation and migration plans
- Staffing and operating model recommendations
- Cost drivers, assumptions, and statements of work
- Accelerate opportunity progression by providing clear technical direction, reducing ambiguity, and improving delivery readiness during pursuits.
- Improve win rates by strengthening technical credibility, integration transparency, and execution confidence across the sales lifecycle.
- Maintain consistent solution ownership from pursuit through delivery handoff to preserve architectural intent and minimize rework.
- Serve as the lead solution architect for opportunities that progress to closure.
- Collaborate closely with sales, Microsoft alliance teams, consulting leadership, and delivery teams to ensure alignment between proposed and delivered solutions.

This role sits within Security Operations and focuses on delivering managed and co-managed security monitoring, detection engineering, incident response, and continuous improvement using Microsoft Sentinel as the primary SIEM and SOAR platform. The role operates in a client-facing, delivery-focused environment and collaborates closely with client security teams, Avanade delivery teams, and Microsoft partners.
Role Overview
The Security Operations Consultant is responsible for delivering security monitoring and incident response services using Microsoft Sentinel, helping clients detect, investigate, and respond to security threats in hybrid and cloud environments. This role is predominantly a deal-shaping and delivery focused role with the unique opportunity to help our clients solve complex and cutting-edge Cyber Defense business challenges across their Cloud Providers, Microsoft 365 platform, end user devices and identity infrastructures. You will have the opportunity to help shape their future Cyber Defense and Security Operations strategy, as well as helping to solution and deliver their future capabilities helping them detect, protect and response to security incidents.
What you'll do:
As a member of Integrated Center of Excellence Security team, you will be working on some of the most exciting, complex and leading-edge projects In this client-facing role you will play an active role in transforming our client’s Cyber Defense and Security Operations strategy, capabilities and operations through the design and implementation of predominantly Microsoft Security Copilot, Defender and Sentinel based Extended Endpoint Detection and Response (XDR) capabilities.
As ICOE Security member you will be in a unique position within the business, where you are able to manage your time across both pre-sales, client delivery and able to make a change to the entire Avanade organisation through your offering development and thought leadership. We actively encourage innovation, training and development to ensure you are always at the cutting edge of Cyber Defense and Security Operations.
