Role Summary
Avanade India’s Applications & Engineering practice is looking for an Application Architect to own the architecture of the custom applications we build for clients. This is a hands-on architect role — the person in it sets the target architecture, proves it in code, and stays close enough to the build to be accountable for whether it works.
You will architect microservices and cloud-native applications on Azure, lead modernisation of monolithic and legacy .NET estates, and set the engineering and DevOps standards the delivery teams work to. You will also lead a team directly — guiding engineers and technical leads through build and release — and act as the design authority with client architects and review boards. We expect fluency with LLM-based development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, and a clear view of how to use them well on client code.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the application architecture on client engagements — target-state architecture, service boundaries, integration patterns, non-functional requirements and architecture decision records.
- Architect microservices-based applications: domain-driven service decomposition, API design and versioning, synchronous and asynchronous communication, messaging and events, resilience, idempotency and distributed data patterns.
- Lead monolith-to-microservices modernisation — assessing the existing estate, identifying seams and bounded contexts, sequencing the decomposition (strangler-fig and similar patterns), and managing data separation and cutover without breaking the business.
- Design cloud-native applications on Azure — containers and AKS, App Service, Azure Functions and serverless, API Management, Service Bus and Event Grid, caching, storage, scalability, observability and cost-aware design.
- Lead migration of .NET Framework applications to .NET Core / modern .NET — assessment, dependency analysis, refactoring approach, phased cutover and regression strategy.
- Stay hands-on: build reference implementations, prototypes and the hard parts of the codebase in C# and .NET, and review the team’s code.
- Lead a team of engineers and technical leads through delivery — technical direction, work allocation, code and design review, and accountability for technical quality.
- Define and enforce engineering standards: branching and code review discipline, test strategy and coverage, static analysis, secure coding and performance benchmarks.
- Own the CI/CD and DevOps approach with the delivery team — multi-stage YAML pipelines in Azure DevOps, environments, approval gates, release automation, infrastructure as code and continuous delivery.
- Set the standard for LLM-assisted development (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or equivalent) — where it is used, how output is reviewed, and the guardrails that apply on client code — and use it hands-on to accelerate design, refactoring, test generation and legacy code comprehension.
- Design application security into the solution — authentication and authorisation (Entra ID, OAuth/OIDC), secrets management, data protection and secure integration — working with security teams on review and sign-off.
- Design for operability — monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, SLOs, DR and production support handover.
- Act as design authority — chairing design reviews, resolving architecture escalations and defending decisions with client architects and architecture review boards.
- Plan and estimate technical work with project managers, assess technical risk and dependencies, and keep delivery honest about trade-offs.
- Mentor technical leads and engineers, and drive skilling on .NET, cloud-native engineering and AI-assisted development.
- Support presales as the applications SME — solution architecture, modernisation approach, estimation, proposals and client technical workshops.
- Contribute reference architectures, reusable frameworks, pipeline templates and accelerators to the practice IP library.

Role Summary
Avanade India’s Applications & Engineering practice is looking for an Application Technical Lead to own the technical delivery of .NET applications for our clients. This is a hands-on role — the person in it designs the solution, writes code alongside the team, reviews what others produce, and is accountable for what ships.
You will lead a team of four to five engineers through build and release, own the engineering standards and the Azure DevOps pipelines that enforce them, and lead modernisation work from .NET Framework to modern .NET. We also expect you to be fluent with LLM-based development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code — using them to raise the team’s productivity and code quality, and setting sensible rules for how they are used on client work.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical delivery of .NET applications — technical design, build, code quality, testing, release and production readiness.
- Lead a team of four to five engineers: allocating work, reviewing code and designs, unblocking the team and holding the quality of what is delivered.
- Design and develop applications hands-on in C# and .NET — ASP.NET Core, Web API, microservices and service integrations.
- Lead migration and modernisation of legacy .NET Framework applications to .NET Core / modern .NET — assessment, dependency and package analysis, migration approach, incremental cutover and regression testing.
- Apply LLM-based development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or equivalent) across the lifecycle — code generation, refactoring, test generation, legacy code comprehension and documentation — and set the team’s standards for their safe and effective use on client code.
- Build and run CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps — multi-stage YAML, build and release gates, approvals, artifact and environment management, automated testing and continuous delivery to higher environments.
- Define and enforce engineering standards: branching strategy, pull request and code review discipline, unit and integration test coverage, static analysis and security scanning.
- Design and optimise data access and database interaction — SQL Server or Azure SQL, Entity Framework Core, query tuning and caching.
- Work with cloud and platform teams on deployment architecture — Azure App Service, Functions, containers and AKS, Key Vault, configuration and secrets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance, reliability and production issues, and drive root-cause fixes rather than workarounds.
- Run technical design discussions with architects, business analysts and client technical stakeholders, and explain and defend design decisions.
- Plan and estimate work with the project manager — breakdown, sizing, sprint planning and realistic commitments — and report technical progress and risk.
- Mentor and uplift engineers on .NET, engineering practice and AI-assisted development, and support hiring and technical interviews.
- Contribute reusable components, templates, pipeline accelerators and reference implementations to the practice IP library.
- Support presales where needed — technical approach, effort estimation and client technical discussions.

Infrastructure AV
Belgium
Job description
We are looking for a motivated intern who is curious about cloud engineering, Infrastructure as Code, and automation. You should enjoy turning technical ideas into practical, maintainable solutions and be eager to learn from experienced cloud professionals.
Your main assignment will be to create a practical library of reusable Terraform modules for Azure. You will develop individual resource modules and combine them into larger, composable solutions, such as virtual networks with their related resources.
Beyond the modules themselves, you will build reusable GitHub Actions workflows, help establish well-organized repositories, and create a GitHub Copilot instruction template. Together, these assets will give the team a consistent foundation for future Azure deployments for our clients.
The internship will follow a sprint-based approach using Azure DevOps. At the start of each sprint, you will receive a clearly defined set of tasks and priorities. Regular check-ins, sprint reviews, and feedback will help you demonstrate results, adjust your approach, and steadily build your skills. This process will provide a transparent framework for tracking progress and evaluating your development throughout the internship.
You will work in a modern engineering environment using Azure DevOps for sprint planning, GitHub for code management, GitHub Actions for deployments, Terraform, GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft Azure. Guidance and regular feedback will be provided throughout the internship; prior experience with any of these tools is an advantage, but a strong willingness to learn is equally important.
Come join us
At Avanade, you will become part of a welcoming, collaborative community where people share knowledge, challenge ideas, and support one another. Our global perspective and strong connection to the Microsoft ecosystem create an environment where you can learn from diverse experiences, build meaningful relationships, and see how innovation takes shape in practice.
From your first day, you will be encouraged to ask questions, contribute your perspective, and take increasing ownership as your confidence grows. With regular guidance, open feedback, and opportunities to work alongside experienced colleagues, the internship is designed to be both challenging and supportive. You will leave with a clearer view of life in consulting, valuable professional experience, and a network of people invested in your development. If you are curious, open-minded, and ready to grow, we would be pleased to welcome you to Avanade.
What You’ll Do
• Design and build reusable Terraform modules for Azure resources in line with agreed standards and best practices.
• Combine individual modules into larger, composable solutions, such as virtual networks with related networking resources.
