Business Situation
As a world leader in specialty chemicals, Evonik realises the importance of engaging staff and training them on new enterprise platforms and computer-based tools, which are critical to company-wide collaboration and effectiveness. Since the rollout of its Microsoft 365 solution coincided with the introduction of its IT Academy and #enjoyIT training, Evonik needed to be nimble to help its diverse workforce engage with Microsoft 365 in ways that best met their business responsibilities and optimised their performance.

Solution
For the Microsoft 365 training, Evonik wanted to address employees’ hesitation to embrace the new solutions. Armed with our expertise and deep cultural change experience, we worked with Evonik to conduct in-person and Microsoft Teams roadshows known as “Candy Shops”. The organisation's #enjoyIT team likened Microsoft 365 to a candy shop with each tool associated with a different way to sweeten employees’ work lives. Individuals who had an appetite for more work could work with the #enjoyIT team to tailor workshops according to their needs.
Results
The #enjoyIT sessions helped Avanade and Evonik understand how employees used Microsoft 365 tools based on their business units and roles. As a result, Evonik has been reorienting #enjoyIT from a technical focus on tool use, to an emphasis on use cases and the change process that accompanies the adoption of new solutions. In this way, the IT Academy can nurture team collaboration and interpersonal relationships across the organisation.
