Avanade employees support men's health issues with moustaches
- Posted on November 6, 2014
It’s that hairy time of the year again, when our Gents selflessly volunteer to grow moustaches for the month formerly known as November, now called Movember. This annual event was created to bring awareness to men’s health issues including prostate cancer, mental health and many more.
This is truly a global effort for us with teams from all geographies across Avanade and a wide range of employees from our consultants to our executives such as Canada GM, Dean Olmstead. We’ve grown from three teams in 2012 to seven teams in six countries last year. For 2014, our Avanade Movember network has collectively raised $2,686 USD among our 95 active participants in the first week alone.
We’re especially thrilled that we received special recognition from Movember Canada last year for raising $12,500 CAD. And the year before that we raised a total $10,000 CAD.
While this is not an Avanade-sponsored initiative, these 30 days of moustache-growing and important conversations about men’s health brings everyone closer together to support a great cause.
We invite you to visit the Avanade Movember network to see how our Mo-Bros and Mo-Sistas’ growing efforts for both hair length and donations are progressing. And don’t forget to send a quick note of encouragement, join a team or make a donation because every dollar and kind word counts.
Keep on Mo-ing!
