Celebrating International Women's Day around the globe at Avanade

The following blog post was written by Avanade alum Sarah Adam-Gedge.
Next week officially marks Avanade's 4th global celebration of International Women's Day (IWD), but the fun begins this week as Avanade local events get under way. Many of our local offices are planning special events for our employees that put the spotlight on women in the workplace. We’re also very grateful to be partnering with the International Women's Day organization this year – Avanade even has its own webpage on the site.
Avanade (and Accenture's) theme, "Listen, Learn and Lead" explores how women and men can better leverage these three critical skills to succeed in both their professional and personal lives. The theme is especially timely as we explore the changes, challenges and opportunities brought about by the digital workplace not only within our business but with many of our clients across the world. We’re super excited to host the Avanade marquee event on March 10 in Sydney, Australia this year. As part of the event, Claire Williams, Deputy Team Principal for Williams Martini Racing, will be our featured guest speaker. Avanade’s VP of Diversity, Eddie Pate, will also be here to moderate a lively discussion on women’s workplace issues by a distinguished panel of experts including:
- Collette Dinnigan, Australian Fashion Designer
- Pip Marlow, Managing Director of Microsoft
- Kristeen Adam-Smith, Financial Controller of Westpac
We’re delighted to support and celebrate International Women's Day as the premier global event that recognizes the social, economic and political achievements of women throughout history. I hope your celebrations are successful and you enjoy this special occasion as much as I do.
I've also included a recent video below featuring Pam Maynard who details all the wonderful program for women here at Avanade.
