The importance of trust

“To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.”

That quote is from George MacDonald, the 19th century Scottish fantasy literature pioneer, poet and Christian minister whose stories pulsed with the themes of trust and integrity.  Trust is the essence of a fruitful and successful personal and professional life and the crux of successful business partnerships.  I will trust you with my life, I trust you with my child, I trust you to fly me across the Atlantic.  But can I trust you to change and grow my business?

Let’s hone in on trust as it impacts business partnerships versus business relationships because, just like a marriage, in a “partnership” there is usually some formal arrangement in place to ensure binding commitment between the parties. Just like jumping out of a plane, you need to believe that the mutual trust in your instructor is binding, especially as you look at the bindings! Of course, like jumping out of a plane, even if you have a written agreement a partnership is only as good as the reliable demonstration of trustworthy behaviour; a properly packed, operational parachute, for instance.

How do you demonstrate digital trustworthiness?
In this new era of intelligence, business partnerships are being tested more than ever before. Unbelievable technology advancements, inefficient legacy business operations, the exponential growth in data, (from so many different sources) and enormous pressure to deliver differentiated customer experiences are just some of the challenges facing business leaders today.  “Digital transformation” looms as the technology panacea but It is extremely difficult for business leaders to understand what such successful change looks like for them, no less who they can trust to help them achieve transformational gains.  While organisations are budgeting more than ever on new initiatives and technologies with the hope of growing their ability to help them predict, adapt and lead their markets (the hallmarks of an intelligent enterprise), it is hard for them to really know whether they are investing in a miracle drug or snake oil.
By the end of 2019, IDC predicts that digital transformation (DX) spending will reach $1.7 trillion worldwide, a 42% increase from 2017.  Strong foundations built on trust can deliver results that we must demonstrate every day. Advising and helping clients enable transformation to an Intelligent Enterprise is a key focus for Avanade and we pride ourselves as being the leading digital innovator for Microsoft technology.  We are immensely proud of our business partnership with Microsoft, but it is safe to say our collective focus is on business partnerships built on TRUST and our aim for all of our clients is to become more than a partner, but a trusted advisor.

At the same time, we realize the only way to do so is to demonstrate our result-driving difference and our trustworthiness every day with every client on every project.  And, we don’t expect you to take our word for it.  We must build strong enough trust amongst our clients that they share their experiences with you.

A partnership based on mutual respect and trust
Studio 100 and Avanade have worked together as partners for 10 years and we are actively engaged on enabling transformation to improve employee engagement with Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions and a focus on Intelligent Operations. Check out the video below to hear how we collaborated to improve their employee engagement.

Building further on our partnership with Studio 100, it has been fantastic to experience how they proactively bring their own innovative ideas to align with Avanade’s skills, tools and experience and Microsoft’s market leading technologies. Over the period of engagement with Studio 100, Avanade have certainly enjoyed seeing how a leading company in the media industry has had to adapt and change and we are delighted to have built the necessary trust to help where required.

The challenge and need for change is accelerating
IDC also predicts that 40% of DX initiatives will be supported by cognitive and AI capabilities by 2019. Knowing that every industry is different, we support all sectors with unique solutions to address fundamental challenges. This includes updating legacy environments with business process innovation, providing advice for people (customer and employee)-first experiences and also enabling insight and innovation with intelligent solutions.

As the leading digital innovator, we take great pride in knowing we are a trusted advisor. Trust has to be earned so we are delighted to have clients like Studio100 and Medisys put their TRUST in Avanade and help transformation in this constantly evolving era of intelligence.

As Max De Pree put it, “Trust comes only with genuine effort, never with a lick and a promise”.
