Their working lives have changed now that they have the flexibility to organize their days and collaborate simultaneously on documents, which is a big time-saver.

Symrise pursues a dedicated focus on its customers, developing innovative products and expanding into new markets. As tools were created to support new ways of working, employees often found it challenging to let go of habits they had practiced for years. For example, to support their collaboration needs, many were sharing their inboxes with each other. Leaders realized the importance of employees adopting new behaviors that fit the contemporary workplace and their needs. As such, they decided to roll out Microsoft 365 with the aim to improve the employee experience, attract and onboard new employees, increase data security and remove technical barriers.

The IT team found this approach made for a successful migration, inspiring greater employee collaboration. This included:

• A small pilot that was conducted before deciding to replace Lotus Notes and other apps. The solution was tested with a suite of Microsoft 365 apps such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
• A change impact analysis that guided how to support employees through the accelerated migration. This also informed recommendations for Microsoft 365 use.
• Comprehensive employee training and a wide range of self-directed education available on demand.

Regarding the company’s software, the focus is on developing the use of tools and transitioning to new ways of working. Further adapting to the digital workplace journey, Symrise also made some changes to support hybrid work, and managers are receiving related remote working coaching. The company sees exciting changes ahead on its digital journey.
